Following the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the region near the Turkey–Syria border in the early hours of February 6, 2023, another quake of nearly equal strength hit shortly afterward. These twin earthquakes led to one of the most catastrophic disasters the region has experienced in recent times. Tens of thousands of lives were lost, many others were injured, and schools and hospitals suffered extensive destruction.
As the Palestinian-Turkish Businessmen’s Union, it was our duty to stand beside our brothers in this critical moment. We immediately organized an urgent relief convoy consisting of three large trucks carrying essential supplies needed by the earthquake victims. The aid was distributed in coordination with AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), Şişli Municipality, and in the presence of the Ambassador of the State of Palestine.
