The First Palestinian National Economic Meeting in Istanbul June 8, 2024 News Palestinian Economic Meeting In the presence of dozens of Palestinian businessmen, the Palestinian Minister of National Economy, Mr. Mohammed Al-Amour, met with the Palestinian-Turkish Businessmen Union. The meeting was also attended by His Excellency the Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Turkey, Dr. Faed Mustafa, and Ms. Manal Al-Dosouki, Director General of General Trade at the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy. The Union’s Chairman, Mr. Mazen Al-Hassasna, warmly welcomed the Minister of National Economy and Ambassador Dr. Faed Mustafa, noting that the relationship binding the Union with the homeland and its official and civil institutions is a historic and strong one, built over past years. He affirmed that the Union is constantly working to strengthen relations with the Turkish side in ways that positively reflect on the economic landscape of Palestine. Al-Hassasna also provided a brief overview of the Union, its role, achievements, and future ambitions. In turn, Ambassador Dr. Faed Mustafa thanked the Businessmen’s Union for the hospitality, pointing to the numerous achievements the Union has made over the past years both within Turkey and in Palestine. He stressed the deep and distinguished relationship between the Embassy of Palestine and the Union institution. Minister of National Economy Mr. Mohammed Youssef Al-Amour reviewed a series of agreements signed with the Turkish side, led by Minister of Trade Dr. Ömer Bolat during his visit. These agreements cover several files that serve the interests of the Palestinian economy, most notably the commencement of implementing a customs exemption protocol for 5,000 tons of Palestinian dates instead of 3,000 tons. Additionally, an exemption of 43 Palestinian products from Turkish customs duties was agreed upon, which will be implemented in the coming months. At the same time, he praised the Turkish government’s decision to freeze trade relations with the Israeli entity in protest against the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. Minister Al-Amour further spoke about the severe challenges facing the Palestinian government and the financial crisis it is undergoing, caused by Israeli policies that pressure all Palestinians to enforce their schemes. At the end of the meeting, the Minister listened to a series of interventions and inquiries raised by the audience of businessmen, all related to the keen interest in supporting the Palestinian national economy. Palestinian-Turkish Businessmen Union Condemns Supreme Court Ruling and Commends South Africa’s Stance February 28, 2024 News Turkey – Palestinian Business Union Comments on Supreme Court Decision “Palestinian-Turkish Businessmen Union condemns the Supreme Court ruling and praises South Africa’s stance” Istanbul – Palestinian-Turkish Businessmen Union & Media Sources The Palestinian-Turkish Businessmen Union strongly condemned the Supreme Court’s decision issued on January 26, 2024, which rejected calls for a ceasefire and an end to the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip. The Union stated that this ruling deepens the crisis in the region and raises serious concerns both locally and internationally. Despite the disappointment with the ruling, the Union welcomed the judicial order that keeps the door open for prosecuting and potentially convicting the occupying state in the future. This visit, which serves as a supportive and morale-boosting step for the wounded, provided the delegation with an opportunity to check on their health and reaffirm their steadfast support during these difficult times. As part of their duty, the delegation delivered financial aid to the wounded, symbolizing just a small part of their responsibility. Delegation from the Businessmen’s Union Visits the Consulate of the State of Palestine in Istanbul February 14, 2024 News Palestinian-Turkish Businessmen Union Discusses Ways to Support and Facilitate Humanitarian Aid to the Gaza Strip at the Consulate Istanbul / PTBU A delegation from the Palestinian-Turkish Businessmen Union visited the Consulate of Palestine in Istanbul on Thursday, January 25, 2024. During the visit, they discussed ways to support and facilitate humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, which is suffering from a devastating Israeli war causing an unprecedented humanitarian disaster. The delegation included the Union’s Chairman Mr. Mazen Al-Hassasna, Board members Mr. Mahmoud Al-Saghir and Mr. Fouad Badawi, the Head of the Media Department, and Dr. Ranin Al-Zaanin, the Union’s Executive Director. They were warmly received by Her Excellency Hanaa Abu Ramadan, the General Consul of the State of Palestine in Istanbul. The Turkish government has evacuated dozens of wounded and sick Palestinians from Gaza and, in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority, transferred them via Egypt’s Al-Arish Airport to Ankara. In response, General Consul Hanaa Abu Ramadan expressed her sincere thanks and appreciation for this fruitful visit and the Union’s commitment to its responsibilities. She also provided insights into the vital role the consulate plays in serving the Palestinian community residing in Istanbul. The meeting also addressed Israeli practices in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and their impact on the Palestinian people. Mr. Al-Hassasna expressed the Union’s ongoing readiness to contribute to alleviating their burdens. The Businessmen’s Union Strengthens Its Relations with the Palestinian Community February 14, 2024 News The Union and the Community Discuss the Affairs of the Wounded and Sick Gazans in Turkey Istanbul / PTBU On Saturday, January 27, 2024, a delegation from the Palestinian-Turkish Businessmen Union visited the Palestinian community in Istanbul. This visit was part of a series of visits decided by the Union’s Board of Directors to strengthen ties between Palestinian and Arab institutions and the Union within the Turkish arena. Discussions focused on developing and consolidating the relationship between the Union and the community, as well as the affairs of Palestinians in Turkey, particularly the cases of wounded individuals coming from Gaza. The delegation included the Union’s Chairman Mr. Mazen Al-Hassasna, his deputy Mr. Mahmoud Al-Saghir, Board members Mr. Asim Bakir and Mr. Fouad Badawi, and the Union’s Director Dr. Ranin Al-Zaanin. They were warmly received by the Head of the Community, Engineer Rajeh Nassar, and his deputy Engineer Wael Al-Mashouki. The meeting also addressed Israeli practices in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and their impact on Palestinians. The Union Visits the Palestinian Embassy in Ankara to Discuss Current Issues and Support the Palestinian People February 14, 2024 News Ankara, January 29, 2024 / PTBU In a significant step to strengthen relations and discuss urgent Palestinian matters, a delegation from the Palestinian-Turkish Businessmen Union made an official visit to the Embassy of the State of Palestine in the Turkish capital, Ankara. The delegation was headed by Mr. Mazen Al-Hassasna, Chairman of the Board, along with his deputy Mr. Mahmoud Al-Saghir and several board members including Mr. Ziad Al-Dahlez, Dr. Jalal Kahil, Mr. Fouad Badawi, and the Union’s Director Ms. Ranin Al-Zaanin. The delegation was warmly received by His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Faed Mustafa, who expressed deep sorrow over the current situation and the ongoing Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip. Ambassador Mustafa also affirmed that the embassy and its staff are exerting their utmost efforts to assist the Palestinian community in Turkey, especially the Palestinian students from Gaza.
