A delegation from the Palestinian-Turkish Businessmen Union participated in important meetings held yesterday, Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo. These meetings were part of the launch of the “Hope for the Future Initiative,” which was sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah.

During the meeting, the Union’s Chairman, Mr. Mazen Al-Hassasna, emphasized the importance of this initiative, which addresses the needs of Palestinians, especially under the difficult conditions faced by the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing aggression. Al-Hassasna also highlighted the initiatives launched by the Union to support Palestinian students in general and particularly those studying abroad, praising the efforts made to advocate for their causes. He further commended the significant role of partners working in this field and affirmed the Union’s readiness to always be part of any effort supporting Palestinian university students, with its doors open to them. He stressed the absolute priority given to the reconstruction of universities and schools in the Gaza Strip.

Also participating in the sessions was Dr. Issa Al-Khawaja, Head of the Public Relations Department at the Union, who underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation with international and regional institutions to support Palestinians in various fields. He called on everyone, especially Arab official levels, to work toward dismantling obstacles that prevent Palestinian students from completing their education in the Arab countries where they reside.

During the visit, His Excellency Dr. Saeed Abu Ali, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League for Palestinian Affairs, received the Union delegation. Discussions focused on ways to develop the Union’s operational mechanisms and enhance its extensive international network of relations, as well as exploring the possibility of benefiting from the Arab League’s programs to support Palestinians in various sectors, including education.

Regarding the “Hope for the Future Initiative,” it was confirmed that additional scholarships will be allocated to Palestinian students through cooperation with Stardom University and the American University in Sharjah, as a step to support Palestinian students abroad.

It is noteworthy that this initiative comes at a sensitive time when the Palestinian people face significant challenges. These efforts aim to ensure the provision of educational opportunities and continuous support for future generations.
